The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement review

(A review of The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement)If you're looking for a teen girly movie, go ahead. This one is another story about how you should follow your heart instead of just do what everybody else says you should do (then you'll find your true love and you'll live happily ever after). And there's no problem, except for the fact that it's supposed to be The Princess Diaries' sequel. Ok, book adaptations can't be exactly like the book, but this movie simply uses the characters to tell a completely new story. The actor who played Michael, Mia's boyfriend, in the first movie didn't want to work in this one, 'cause he was on tour with his band (Rooney). And they use this exactly excuse to explain why the character isn't in the story anymore. Anyway, after breaking up with her boyfriend 'cause he went on tour with his band, and being a college graduate, Mia goes to Genovia and finds out that she needs to get married or she won't be able to succeed her grandmother as the Queen of Genovia. The movie shows the search for a husband and Lord Devereaux's (another heir to the crown) plans to steal the crown. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
So much drama, so little time.

(A review of 90210)I started watching 90210 because it's in California, and since The OC I looove California. The fact that it's a spin-off of Beverly Hills 90210, a show that I used to watch with mom when I was younger, also made me want to watch it. But I sure was expecting more. I can't help comparing it with The OC or even Gossip Girl and it's really disappointing. The actors aren't the most talented ones and the clothes are a little... ugly. The story isn't that good too. Or maybe it is, but it seems that it's not well distributed. A lot of things happen in only one episode, but you still feel like nothing happened. There's a lot of conflicts but many of them start and end in the same episode. Anyway, even with its problems, I still watch 90210 and it's my guilty pleasure. And I think Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) is worth it. :D 0 comments, Reply to this entry

(A review of The O.C.)As every teen drama (and any other thing in the world), The OC has fans and haters. The haters will tell you about how the actors don't seem to be 16 years old, how boring the realtionship between Ryan and Marissa is, how the show is full of cliches about the differences between the social groups... and let me tell you something: they're right. The fans will tell you about how GREAT is the sountrack, how Seth's sarcasm can be funny, how the relationship between Summer and Seth is cute, how the show makes Newport Beach seems like the perfect place... and, again, let me tell you something: they're also right. As a fan, I think the good things about the show overcome the bad things. The story of the adaptation of a kid from Chino in the wealthy world of Newport Beach, with people with a lot of skeletons in the closet who are always trying to keep up appearances is really interesting. The realtionship between the "Fantastic Four" (Ryan, Marissa, Seth and Summer) is entertaining and full of memorable incidents. The soudtrack is simply perfect, and you can see it by the 6 cds with the soudtrack (considering that the series has only 4 seasons). 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Marie Antoinette review

(A review of Marie Antoinette)Really beautiful scenes, amazing colors... but that's all. You can sleep half the movie and you won't miss the story, 'cause nothing happens (ok, somethings happen, but they happen reeeeeally slowly). I know it's a historical movie, so there's nothing she can do about the facts, but there's a million ways of telling them and I personally don't like the one she uses. I don't understand why people think Sofia Coppola is so "great and special". Or not, maybe I do. Her movies are really pretty and the images are really good... sadly I can't say the same thing about the stories. 1 comments, Reply to this entry
Mamma Mia! review

(A review of Mamma Mia!)It's funny. I laughed a lot in some scenes. But it's not as good as I thought it'd be. Amanda Seyfried does a great job, but I didn't like Meryl Streep's character. She could have done so much better. The singing scenes start a little suddenly and in one of them there's almost no break between two different songs, wich made it a little tiring. When I watch a musical, I usually spend at least a week listening to the soundtrack and singing along, but with this one I was bored in a few days. The versions of Abba classics aren't that good outside the movie. And none of the guys is called Fernando, what I think is a shame. :D 2 comments, Reply to this entry
Once More with Feeling: Singles 1996-2004 review

(A review of Once More with Feeling: Singles 1996-2004)One day, looking for a song from the Cruel Intention's soundtrack, I found Every You Every Me and really liked it. Then I listened to Protege Moi, and in the next day I was buying this cd. Placebo is great and this cd can really make you fall for them. The singles give you an idea of the band's history and, trust me, they're really really great. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Cruel Intentions review

(A review of Cruel Intentions)A classic teenage movie, everyone's got to watch. :) The characters are great, the way they plan, the way they talk, the way the facts lead to a unexpected end. Nowadays, the story is a commonplace, but I think this movie, adapted from Dangerous Liaisons, is the inspiration for all the "almost-the-same-stories" that came after it. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer review

(A review of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer)Really great movie, full of beautiful scenes, almost as great as the book. The main character barely speaks, but you can totally understand what he's feeling and thinking. The images and the narrator's description can make you feel the exactly essences, the perfumes (sometimes the stink). I read the book after watching the movie, and figured out that Grenouille's mind is even more complex then I first thought. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
